Starting with commercial quality materials, 5N Plus uses a combination of physical and chemical purification techniques to produce 5N, 6N and 7N purity metals, which are offered in a variety of shapes for electronic applications.
Tellurium High-purity tellurium is an essential component in the manufacturing of cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar cells and thermoelectric devices.
Selenium 5N Plus sells selenium to manufacturers of zinc selenide (ZnSe). This compound is transparent under infrared light and is used to manufacture lenses for carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers.
Antimony The antimony sold by 5N Plus is used by manufacturers of RW (rewritable) CDs and DVDs. This technology is based on using a thin layer of compound made of tellurium and antimony.
Cadmium Cadmium is used in solar applications (CdTe, CdS) and in CdZnTe for nuclear radiation detectors (X-ray, gamma ray).
Zinc High-purity zinc sold by 5N Plus is used to synthesize certain semiconductors such as CdZnTe, a preferred material for infrared substrates and nuclear radiation detectors.
Bismuth 5N Plus sells bismuth to manufacturers of thermoelectric devices, who use alloys of bismuth telluride and bismuth antimonide to produce water fountains and portable coolers and, more recently, by the automotive industry to cool car seats.
